- Lorna Hopkinson Review added: 2018.07.27★ ★ ★ ★ ★Montacute House is always a favourite for us to visit. It has lovely gardens which are not too big so can easily walk round them and stop a couple of times on well placed seats to soak up the views. There is a parkland if you want a longer walk and whatever your age you can have a go on the swing hung from a large tree. The cafe is the usual NT affair. On a sunny day it's pleasant sitting in the courtyard. If it's too pricey you can always sit in the gardens with your flasks of coffee. The house has a lot to offer. The best part for me is the Long Gallery with the numerous National Portrait Gallery paintings. Will be going back soon.
